We've built a successful tax practice serving 500+ individual clients and 150+ business clients.
Now we're at an exciting transition point. We're focusing more on our mission: helping small businesses transform into more scalable and more profitable organizations.
I'm an Enrolled Agent and I love the strategic tax planning and advisory work. That's where I can make the biggest impact for our clients.
But there's only so much time in the day. And right now, I'm splitting my time between high-level advisory work and the volume of tax preparation that comes with a growing practice.
That's where you come in.
You handle the excellent technical tax preparation work. Our clients get taken care of without delays. And I focus on the strategic advisory work that helps businesses thrive.
It's a straightforward arrangement. You're great at tax preparation and want to work somewhere with strong values and reasonable hours. We need someone with your skills so we can scale the practice we're building.
With the right person in this role, we serve more clients better and build something we're both proud of.
We're not going to claim we're perfect or revolutionary.
But here's what's actually different about working here.
First, we're values-driven in a real way. We have four core values—Trustworthy, Pursuing Mastery, Taking Ownership, and Loving Your Neighbor. They guide how we make decisions, treat clients, and build our team. Not posters on a wall. Actual operating principles.
Second, you'll work with small business clients. Contractors. Professionals. Growing service businesses. People building something real. Not 3,000 cookie-cutter 1040s.
Third, we respect your time. Maximum 60 hours per week during busy season. If you've worked at a firm where 80-hour weeks are normal, you know this matters.
Fourth, our location is exceptional. Office suite in a neighborhood clubhouse on a golf course in Woodstock. Surrounded by tennis courts, with a restaurant next door. It's a nice place to come to work.
Fifth, you'll work directly with me. I care about mastery and building a practice that helps clients achieve their dreams.
Our mission: we help small businesses transform into more scalable and more profitable organizations.
Our purpose: help their dream of a thriving business come true.
That's what drives every decision we make.
Our values shape everything:
Trustworthy means we do what's right even when no one is watching.
Pursuing Mastery means we're constantly improving our craft and staying ahead of changes in tax law and business strategy.
Taking Ownership means we identify problems and solve them without waiting to be told.
Loving Your Neighbor means we genuinely care about our clients' success and treat them with respect, patience, and professionalism—even when they're stressed or confused.
These are operational principles. If these values resonate with you, you'll thrive here.
You'll work in a beautiful office suite in a neighborhood clubhouse setting on a golf course in Woodstock, Georgia.
We're surrounded by 15 tennis courts. Restaurant next door. It's a professional environment that doesn't feel like a typical office park.
You'll have full health insurance. We're working on adding dental and retirement benefits.
During tax season (January through April), you'll work hard. Maximum 60 hours per week. That's significantly better than the 80+ hour weeks common at larger firms.
Outside tax season, you'll have flexibility and breathing room. Time for professional development. Strategic work. Work-life balance.
I'm hands-on but not micromanaging. I trust professionals to do professional work.
The culture is collaborative and focused. We're committed to excellence without the toxic pressure or burnout that's common in public accounting.
You need at least 5 years of professional tax preparation experience.
We need someone who has prepared hundreds of tax returns and can work independently without constant supervision.
You should have deep accounting knowledge. Not just familiarity with tax software, but genuine understanding of how businesses operate and how tax strategy connects to business decisions.
You must be proficient in tax preparation software and comfortable learning new systems.
CPA or EA credentials are valuable, but what matters most is demonstrated competence. Can you prepare accurate, high-quality returns without hand-holding?
If you're a recent college graduate or someone with only intern-level experience, this isn't the right role. We don't have the capacity during tax season to provide extensive training on fundamentals.
We need someone who can step in, assess a return, identify issues, and prepare it correctly the first time.
Experience with small business returns is essential. S-corps, partnerships, multi-member LLCs.
Experience with high-net-worth individuals or professionals with complex 1099 income is a plus.
You should be comfortable with QuickBooks. Familiar with Xero or other cloud-based accounting platforms.
You need strong Excel skills for financial analysis and data management.
You should understand tax planning concepts, not just tax preparation. The difference between reactive compliance and proactive strategy.
You need to be comfortable reading financial statements, identifying errors in bookkeeping, and explaining tax implications to clients in plain language.
Familiarity with multi-state tax issues is helpful but not required.
You should be able to research tax questions independently. IRS publications, tax research tools, professional resources.
Software proficiency matters. But conceptual understanding matters more. We can teach you our specific systems. We can't teach you how to think about tax problems during tax season.
You must be able to communicate clearly with clients who don't understand accounting or tax terminology.
Many of our clients are small business owners. They're brilliant at their craft but confused by financial statements and tax forms.
You need patience. Clarity. The ability to explain complex concepts simply without being condescending.
You should be comfortable working independently. We're not a large firm with multiple layers of review. You'll prepare returns, handle client questions, and make judgment calls without constant oversight.
You need strong organizational skills to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously during tax season.
Attention to detail is non-negotiable. Errors create problems for clients and consume time we don't have.
You should be proactive about identifying issues and solving them. Don't wait to be told what to do.
Cultural fit matters. If you value mastery, take ownership of your work, care about clients as people, and operate with integrity—you'll thrive here.
If you're looking for a place to coast or do the minimum, this isn't it.
We're not hiring recent college graduates or people who need extensive training on accounting fundamentals.
We don't have time during tax season to teach someone how to prepare a Schedule C or explain what a K-1 is.
We're not looking for someone who needs constant supervision or can't make decisions independently.
We're not hiring for a massive firm where you'll be a cog in a machine. If you want to prepare 3,000 identical returns with zero client interaction, this isn't the place.
We're not looking for someone who wants to work 80+ hour weeks or sees burnout as a badge of honor. We respect boundaries and sustainable pace.
If you're looking for a job where you can hide in the back office and never talk to clients, this won't work.
Our practice is relationship-based. You won't be the primary client contact, but you'll interact with clients regularly. You need to represent our values well.
Your core responsibility is preparing accurate, high-quality tax returns for individual and business clients without requiring constant oversight on basic items.
During tax season, you'll handle significant volume. We're talking hundreds of returns, not dozens.
You'll work directly with client financial information. Ask clarifying questions when needed. Identify issues or opportunities. Prepare complete returns ready for review and signature.
You'll be responsible for managing your own workload and deadlines.
Communicate proactively when you encounter problems or need additional information.
Maintain our quality standards even when the pace is intense.
Outside of tax season, you may assist with tax planning meetings, quarterly estimated tax calculations, bookkeeping support for select clients, or other advisory work depending on your skills and interests.
You'll be expected to stay current on tax law changes. Continue developing your technical skills. Contribute to our evolving practice as we focus more on transformational advisory work with small business clients.
You'll interact with clients regularly. I maintain primary client relationships, but you'll be involved.
You'll field questions about tax returns. Explain calculations or positions taken. Request additional documentation. Clarify confusing items on client-provided records.
Many of our clients are small business owners juggling multiple responsibilities. Patience and clear communication matter.
You're not expected to handle complex client strategy discussions or business advisory conversations. That's my role.
But you should be able to have professional, helpful conversations about the technical tax work you're doing.
You'll need to represent our values in every interaction:
Be trustworthy. Never overpromise or hide mistakes.
Pursue mastery. Give accurate information, not guesses.
Take ownership. Solve problems proactively.
Love your neighbor. Treat clients with respect even when they're stressed or disorganized.
The goal is that clients feel supported and confident. Not confused or frustrated.
You'll work both independently and collaboratively depending on the situation.
For straightforward returns within your expertise, you'll work autonomously from start to finish.
For complex issues, unusual situations, or significant tax strategy decisions, you'll consult with me before proceeding.
You'll use our practice management systems to track client communications and document decisions. Nothing falls through the cracks during busy season.
You'll participate in team check-ins. Coordinate workflow. Discuss challenging returns. Share knowledge.
If we hire multiple people for this role, you'll collaborate with your peers. Balance workload. Support each other during peak periods.
You'll be expected to document your work clearly so others can understand your decisions and reasoning.
As we grow, you may have opportunities to specialize in certain types of clients or tax situations based on your interests and the firm's needs.
Outside of tax season, you'll have time and support for continuing professional education.
We value mastery. That means we want you growing and improving, not stagnating.
You'll be encouraged to attend webinars, take courses, pursue credentials, and stay ahead of tax law changes.
If you're interested in developing advisory skills—tax planning, business strategy, financial analysis—there will be opportunities to learn and contribute as we build that side of the practice.
If you want to specialize in certain industries or types of clients, we're open to that.
The key is that you're committed to getting better at your craft. Not just doing the same work the same way year after year.
We're building a practice focused on transformation. For our clients and for our team.
If you want to be part of that and grow professionally while maintaining reasonable work-life balance, this role offers that path.
